RYEDALE triathletes are aiming for more success this winter after a recent training camp at Dalby Forest.
Nathan and Abi Smith, Tyler and Finnian Hutchinson, Maurice Calton Seal and Emma Clapton were all accepted into the Yorkshire and Humberside Academy which guides their long term development towards becoming elite senior athletes and is sponsored by the Brownlee Foundation.
The group have also demonstrated their endurance and fitness levels in other disciplines.
Nathan Smith, 16, qualified for the Great Britain mountain running team and took part in competitions in Bulgaria this summer.
He also represented the England team along with Clapton and the Hutchinsons in a home international in Keswick where all three won medals.
The triathlon season saw Tyler Hutchinson and Clapton competing in their first year at junior level. By the end of the season, both had developed their racing skills against athletes three years their senior.
In the U20s festival in Strathclyde, Clapton finished sixth and Hutchinson finished 11th.
Nathan Smith and Tyler Hutchinson also won the Castle Howard Triathlon while Hutchinson won the Brownlee Triathlon junior event.
Overall, Nathan Smith had a great year, showing superb form in the youth age group and winning national medals in the National Super Series events.
Calton Seal came to form as his confidence grew finishing 15th in the youth category on the final event.
Finnian Hutchinson finished second overall in the Yorkshire and Humberside series with Abi Smith in fourth spot.
Meanwhile, Martha Calton Seal, who is currently too young for entry into the academy, won her age group and has become Yorkshire Champion.
Finnian Hutchinson and Martha Carlton Seal qualified for the national inter- regional event at Strathclyde where Martha finished sixth and Finnian eleventh.
All are now in training with local coaches.
