BROOKLYN Girls U12s played two away games on the trot.

With both teams joint top of the league it was going to be a hard fought match at York RI.

Brooklyn started strongly, but York RI took the lead against the run of play. But Brooklyn hit back with a goal from Florence Pegrum. The away side were in control and took the lead when goalkeeper Jevan Crick’s long kick deceived the York RI keeper.

In the second-half, the visitors were coming under increased pressure and York RI scored the equaliser.

Brooklyn responded well, but could not break down the York RI defence.

Last Saturday’s match was at Stamford Bridge.

The visitors were on top for most of the first-half and took the lead from midfielder Florence Pegrum.

In the second-half, Brooklyn were playing some good football and Florence Pegrum added two more goals to complete her hat-trick.

Emily Cooper scored to seal Brooklyn’s 4-0 victory.

Other results: Kirkbymoorside U14s beat Pickering 4-0 with a brach of goals each from James Farrow and Ben Teasdale 2). Kirkby-moorside U16s were involved in a nine-goal thriller at Haxby and came out 5-4 winners. The Kirkby goals were scored by Jack Simpson 2, Ryan Metcalfe 2, and Keelan Simpson 1). Kirkbymoorside U16s tasted victory in their home game against Stamford Bridge. The 4-1 win came with goals from Ryan Metcalfe 2, Keelan Simpson 1 and Archie Barnes 1. Kirkbymoorside U15s suffered a 5-0 loss at home to Easingwold. Kirkbymoorside U14s hit an amazing eight goals with no reply when they hosted Heworth. The goals were scored by Ben Teasdale 3, Dan Ward 2, Adam Eustace 1, James Farrow 1 and Toby Schofield 1. Kirkbymoorside U18 Ladies beat Fulford 4-1 with scorers Emily Dowson 2, Freya Morton and Emily Lockett 1.

 

Raiders hit Heslerton

HESLERTON U10s welcomed Scholes Park Raiders to Sand Lane for their last match of the season.

Both teams put on a fine display of football, but the passing between Heslerton’s midfield and striker was outstanding.

Despite the home team’s strong defence, the Raiders broke through with a couple of goals to come out overall winners.

Man of the match George Heap impressed spectators with his superb performance in goal after standing in at the last minute for Heslerton’s usual custodian.

Heslerton’s manager Hayley Fawcett said: “It was a very exciting game to end the season.”
