A TERRIFIC twosome from Ryedale Swimming Club enjoyed a day to remember in the prestigious North East Region Winter Championships.
This meet, held in Sunderland, is the highest level of competition available for age group swimming.
Jason Robson, 10, a Ryedale ace who was representing York City Baths Club, finished his successful year on a high.
After qualifying for nine events, he retained his title as 100 metres freestyle champion in his age group and added an impressive five silver medals and a bronze medal to his tally.
Meanwhile, Joe Kelly, 10, competing for Scarborough Swimming Club, qualified in four events.
His opening event was the 200m breaststroke, in which he gained a great personal best time, missing out on a medal by 0.7 of a second. He added fifth, seventh and ninth places in his other races, with PBs in each.
Meanwhile, Ryedale Swimming Club took 15 swimmers to compete at the Scarborough & District Distance Championships at Scarborough Indoor Pool – and they gained 26 medals and numerous personal best times.
