FUNDRAISING efforts by the Racecourse Owners Association have seen the Malton Fire Appeal benefit.
The organisation, at its annual award night last December, raised almost £64,000 which was split between three charities – including £18,032 for the appeal in memory of apprentice jockeys Jamie Kyne and Jan Wilson, who died in a flat fire in Norton.
That came from the proceeds of owners having their racing colours depicted in the awards souvenir brochure.
Tony Hirschfeld, of the ROA, said: “We are delighted to have been able to donate these sums to our charity beneficiaries, thanks to the generosity of ROA members and guests at our 2009 Awards.”
