HESLERTON continued their newitts.com Beckett League Division Two promotion push by dispatching Lealholm Reserves 4-0.

The visitors started like a train, with Morgan Kendrew crossing for the in-form Matty Bean to fire his side ahead.

And the pair again combined on the half-hour to double Heslerton’s lead.

Hessie did not let up in the second half, Kendrew registering a hat-trick of assists after playing in Tom Stockdale, who picked his spot with a pinpoint finish past the despairing goalkeeper from 18 yards.

He then got in on the action himself with the pick of the goals, his stunning 25-yard effort nestling into the right-hand corner to wrap up the scoring with 20 minutes left to play.

There was still time for the Lealholm stopper to thwart both Bean and stalwart Gareth Driver with two outstanding close-range saves, but a fifth goal was not forthcoming.

By contrast, second-placed Goldsborough had an afternoon to forget as they were thrashed 8-0 at West Pier, who are six points adrift of the summit.

A Declan Richardson hat-trick, alongside doubles from Lewis Hunter and Sam Garnett, and a Ben Davies strike, saw off the Whitby outfit, who remain in the hunt at the right end of the table.

Away from the league, some 14 Beckett League teams instead turned their attention to the Gordon Harrison Memorial Trophy.

There were another eight goals in the tie between Division One Rosedale and Division Two Sinnington, which needed spot-kicks to decide a winner.

Matthew Bower put Rosedale ahead, but the visitors hit back through Jack Vincent and an Aiden Taylor penalty to turn the game on its head.

Alaistair Wilkinson and James King then twice levelled for the hosts during the second half after Charlie Hancock had put Sinners back in front.

Archie Turner netted a fourth for the visitors, but a late surge saw Jonathan Sellers take advantage of a goalkeeping mistake to again bring Rosedale onto equal terms.

Eventually, penalties decided the outcome, Sinnington progressing 5-3 in the shootout.

Division One Thornton Dale are also through after winning 4-2 on the road at Amotherby & Swinton Reserves.

The hosts got off to a flying start when Jack Cross gave them an early lead, and things got even better when Brad Train hit a second to send them into half time with a seemingly comfortable lead against their higher opposition.

Dale however fought back after the break, and it wasn’t long before Jack Sawdon and Morgan Elven got them onto level terms.

Simon Rouph was then controversially penalised as Amotherby looked to go back in front, before late goals from Jack South and Elven added insult to injury.

Amotherby’s First team though had a better afternoon as goals from Oliver Towse and Adam Stockell propelled them to a 2-0 win against Snainton.

Newcomers Danby comfortably sealed their progression after blitzing visitors Ryedale Sports Club 5-1.

Reece Mould put the hosts ahead with a fine run and finish, but their second came rather fortuitously, Ryedale’s Martin Myers heading the ball into his own net.

A third goal arrived through talisman Jack Dowson just before the hour, and he was again involved as Kyle Clacherty added his name to the scoresheet.

Brother Harvey then made it a family occasion for the Moorland side before Ryedale skipper Brody Norton-Hunter netted a late consolation.

There were goals galore as Division One high-fliers Wombleton Wanderers overcame a dogged Slingsby 6-3.

A David Thompson hat-trick, Jack Simpson brace and Chris Brown finish eventually got them across the line in a game that was tied 1-1 at the interval. James Sawdon, Anthony Taylor and Martin Crick provided Slingsby’s reply.

Fishburn Park Academy also had a prosperous afternoon as they defeated Goal Sports 3-1 at Broomfield Park.

Harry Coates’ double and a Taylor Humble strike proved enough after Jordan Peet had put the visiting Division One outfit ahead.

Elsewhere, an all-Division One tie saw Ayton thrash Kirkdale United 6-1.

The first half saw plenty of goalmouth action, Ayton racing into a three-goal lead thanks to goals from Bradley Marshall and Jake and Isaac Sands.

16-year-old Jack Hoggard did pull a goal back for the visitors, but they were not helped by the early retirement of injured goalkeeper Rob Galtrey.

Finlay Durbridge donned the gloves for the remainder as Josh Evans and Eric Hall added gloss to the scoreline either side of Marshall’s second.
