RILLINGTON Table Tennis Club have received a financial boost after successfully applying for a Community Fund grant.
Last week, they received a cheque from Malton & Norton Lions.
The money will go towards purchasing a new competition table for their three teams who play in the Ryedale Table Tennis League.
Since being formed by local resident Eric Hall in 2018, the table tennis club has gone from strength to strength.
Initial equipment was borrowed from Amotherby Table Tennis Club and a taster weekend was arranged, drawing a very positive response.
They then applied for a table from the Table Tennis England Ping Pong Award Scheme, which was installed in February 2019, and with help from sponsors and a grant from Ryedale Village Council, launched their first teams in the Ryedale Table Tennis League later that year.
Last season, Rillington A finished third in Division Two, and their ‘B’ team seventh.
The club holds Wednesday ‘social’ sessions from 7pm to 9pm at Rillington Village Hall for anybody interested in trying out the sport.
Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
