YORK City have parted ways with first-team manager Neal Ardley.
The football club have made the decision to end Ardley's tenure as York manager with City sitting in a precarious 20th position in the Vanarama National League, just one point clear of the relegation zone with lower-positioned Dorking Wanderers possessing a game in hand.
With the threat of the Vanarama National League North lingering and a return to regional football for City, the search for a new manager will undergo immediately.
Ardley arrived to the club in early September having previously had spells with Solihull Moors, Notts County and AFC Wimbledon, replacing former boss Mikey Morton after a winless start to the National League campaign.
Ardley helped guide the club to their first victory of the season in a 3-0 drumming of a depleted Southend outfit.
The ex-City boss recorded National League wins over Southend United twice, Oxford City twice, Gateshead, AFC Fylde, Dagenham & Redbridge and Woking.
Having lasted in the role for 34 matches, Ardley has maintained a 29.4 per cent winning record in his time with the club, securing 10 victories, 14 draws and 10 defeats in all competitions.
Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Barnet was the final straw for majority shareholder Matt Uggla, with Ardley bringing in six additions as part of his long-term recruitment plan.
Tony McMahon will take temporary charge of the first-team until a new permanent manager is appointed, starting with Saturday's clash with Wealdstone at the LNER Community Stadium (3pm).
Co-chairs Matt and Julie-Anne Uggla said: “We’d like to thank Neal for his contribution to this incredible club both on the pitch and behind the scenes.
"We wish him well for the future. We now look forward to the next chapter for York City. We are working hard to be able to upstate the fans on the new appointment.”
The club said on their website: "York City FC have today confirmed the immediate departure of Manager Neal Ardley.
"He will work with the owners on a smooth transition and Tony McMahon will be appointed interim manager. A search is already underway for a permanent replacement."
