Visitors Rosedale took the lead after 10 minutes when Jonathan Seller raced away down the left and crossed for Sam Burns to score with a superb shot.

But Martin Kendall equalised five minutes later after excellent work by Josh Bointon.

The game was end to end and could have gone either way. It was settled 15 minutes from time as Kendall set up Olly Brooks to score a fine winner, shooting though a crowded penalty area, for Bagby.

Bagby centre-back Luke Williams and Rosedale full-back Richard Dunn were the men of the match.

Thornton-le-Dale moved up into sixth after a 3-1 win at Heslerton in a game which was much closer than the scoreline suggests.

Thornton took the lead after 30 minutes when David Elliott flicked the ball to Taryn Midgley who scored the only goal of an interesting first half.

They doubled their lead after 50 minutes when a Simon King shot was cleared only as far as Midgely, who scored his second.

Heslerton began to push forward more looking to get back into the game and were rewarded with a goal on the hour when an unmarked Chris Bell headed home from a corner.

However, Thornton recovered well and Midgley completed his hat-trick – sealing his man-of-the-match accolade – following a superb through ball by Elliott.

Centre-half Ross Flinton was Heslerton’s top performer.

Ryedale Sports Club reserves beat Gillamoor 2-1 to stay fifth in the table.

Seb Rivett set up John Ellis to give Ryedale a deserved first-half lead, although Sean Clark equalised before half-time.

Gillamoor, with the wind advantage, did much better in the second half but missed several good chances and Ryedale bagged the winner when Matty Gardner broke free and went on to score.

Midfielder Max Calsey-Harrison for Ryedale SC and centre-half Tony Cass for Gillamoor were the men of the match.Kirkdale United moved up into second in newitts.com Beckett League division two after a 2-1 home win over Heslerton reserves.

Kirkdale, kicking up the slope but with the wind advantage in the first half, took a two-goal lead through Jonathan Wheeldon, from a James Magson cross, and Josh Berry, with a deflected shot.

The second half saw Heslerton come more and more into the game.

They pulled a goal back just four minutes in when good work by Peter Tiffney allowed Lee Timms to score with a fine shot, but, despite putting Kirkdale under pressure for the remainder of the game, they could not get a leveller.

The men of the match were Sean Doyles in midfield for Kirkdale and Nick Schofield for Heslerton.

Thornton-le-Dale reserves won 6-1 at Rillington Athletic reserves, man-of-the-match Luke Hobbs leading the way with four goals.

Darren Davies and Martin Piercy also netted, with Jack Johnson replying with a second-half penalty for Rillington, for whom full-back Rob Stephenson stood out.

Snainton reserves enjoyed a 4-2 home win against Norton United. Craig Moss and Ross Triffitt put them two up at the interval and, although Norton levelled through Ryan Corner and a Jordan Coultard penalty after Graham England was brought down, Snainton quickly retook the lead thanks to a headed goal by Paul Rennard, and a late Sam Collins strike sealed the win.

James Wilson starred at left midfield for Snainton, while Coultard shared Norton’s man-of-the-match award with Graham England.

l Two Beckett League teams had to call off games on Saturday due to a lack of players.

Duncombe Park could not raise a team for the second time in three weeks, this time to visit Union Rovers in division one, while Union Rovers 2nds failed to raise a side for their trip to Easingwold Town 3rds.

Both of these cases will be dealt with by the league management committee next month.

l Clubs are requested to telephone match information to the league secretary as soon as possible after games this Saturday due to early Christmas deadlines in the Gazette & Herald.
