I WOULD like to say a big thank you to the Methodist church in Helmsley and all the people there.
When I first came to Helmsley, I was scared, lonely and felt isolated. I am confined to a wheelchair and getting about can be difficult. I wanted to go to the Methodist church, but all I saw was steps. The Minister visited one day and offered help and supplied a temporary indoor ramp, so it was my chance to get to church and meet people.
Recently a semi-permanent ramp has been erected at the rear of the building, it is very easy to use with hand rails and a gentle slope so can be accessed by any people who find steps difficult.
This ramp has given me full access to everything that happens at the church, not only to the Sunday services, but also groups like Building Faith, Wednesday lunch, family film night and other events, plus other meetings not connected with the church.
Thanks to this ramp my life has changed and I have been made to feel like I am part of the church’s family. So thank you very much to the Methodist church and to the people who I meet every week.
June Ramshaw, Helmsley
