KIND-HEARTED staff on the Ryedale ward at Malton Hospital decided to forgo Christmas cards and donate the money to Louby’s Lifeline.
Dorothy Aitken, from the ward, said instead of sending cards they made a donation to a local charity each year.
“After reading in the Gazette & Herald of Louby’s fundraising projects, we thought we would send our donation to the appeal,” she said.
“We would also like to send our best wishes to Louby and her family and wish them good luck.”
Louby’s Lifeline was set up by Malton teenager Laura Robertson-Tierney who was diagnosed with two aggressive brain tumours last April.
The appeal has so far raised more than £6,000 to help patients across the county through the Brain Cancer Trust in Yorkshire. Louby’s Lifeline wristbands and T-shirts are available from the Gazette & Herald office in Yorkersgate, Malton.
Forthcoming events include a band night at the Fleece pub in Rillington on January 28 when Star Box will be playing. The event starts at 9pm and there will also be a raffle.
The Rotary Club of Malton and Norton has thrown its support behind Louby’s Lifeline with proceeds from next year’s annual charity golf day to be divided between the appeal and Yorkshire Cancer Research.
