MEMBERS of Ryedale Youth Theatre will be taking to the stage next week in the popular musical Me and My Girl.
The show is an exhilarating celebration of life, love and happiness – a simple tale about a male equivalent of Pygmalion’s Eliza Doolittle. Set in England in 1937, the musical is full of great characters and classic songs including The Sun Has Got His Hat On, I’m Leaning on a Lamppost and of course the show stopper – where the cockney characters teach their upper-class acquaintances a dance called The Lambeth Walk.
A spokesperson for Ryedale Youth Theatre said their Pearly Kings and Queens have been busily decorating their costumes with thousands of buttons and sequins for the production.
“We were delighted to be able to take photographs of the principals at Kirkham Hall, with the kind permission of the owner,” they added.
“This beautiful and perfect location was particularly apt in view of Ryedale Youth Theatre’s association with Kirkham Henry and the fact that our director is called Angela Kirkham.
