Scarborough's key cultural businesses, organisations and institutions have met to discuss a proposal to move culture and creative industries centre stage in the renaissance and economic regeneration of the town and to champion the development of the new Creative Industries Centre on the Crescent.
Those at the meeting agreed to help to make culture a central theme of the town's regeneration plans and to establish a Creative Driver Partnership, identified in a 2005 feasibility study on the development of a Creative Industries Centre for Scarborough as key to driving forward creative projects and programmes in the town.
It was also agreed to support the creation of a creative sector network proposed by creative and digital businesses in the area and to give full backing to the development of the Creative Industries Centre Project proposed on the Crescent. There was a unanimous view that the time was right to focus energies and maximise the area's huge, untapped creative and cultural potential. The Creative Driver Partnership is to meet again in March.
