MOTORCYCLING the length of Britain has given a Kirkbymoorside fundraiser a taste of the high-life - and now he plans to conquer Kilimanjaro.
Oil worker John Kallagher has set his sights on the African mountain and hopes to raise £2,000 for the BBC's Children in Need appeal.
John, 41, who works on a rig 100 miles north-east of the Shetland Isles, will climb to the 5,895m summit during an 11-day trip in January.
The Kirkbymoorsider has already proved his fundraising pedigree when on June 21, the longest day, he rode from John O' Groats to Lands End raising £1,800 for three Northern charities.
John says his biggest worry is suffering from altitude sickness.
"The one element of concern I have is that no matter how much you prepare there is nothing you can do about the altitude."
However, he is hoping that a punishing training regime, including three trips to the gym a week, cycling and rowing, will help.
John is looking for further sponsorship from North Yorkshire businesses for his trip.
