THE hard work of pupils at Lady Lumley's School in Pickering was recognised at a special prize-giving night last Thursday.
The Newstead award for spoken English was won by Jonathan Cresswell, who also picked up the Douglas prize for GCSE geography fieldwork and the geography subject prize. Other prize winners were Susan Yates (art and design), Simon Wass (business studies), Sean Holliday and Demelza Triffitt (drama), Kate Thomas (English language and history), Iain Buglass (English literature), Neil Creasey (French), Alistair Fairhurst (German), Gareth Dobson (mathematics), Emma Baumforth (religious studies), Peter Hall (science), Matthew Brown (sports studies), Michael Pye (technology, systems and control), Naomi Kennedy (technology, resistant materials), Alicia Ogg (technology, graphic media), Chelsea Kilpatrick (food technology), Natasha Shepherdson (textiles technology), Nicholas Parker and Nicholas Copland (vocational). The progress prize for key stage four went to Lauren Harrison, Cheryl Kemp and Claire Swiers, while the Procter prize for outstanding achievement was shared by Gareth Dobson, Chelsea Kilpatrick, Alicia Ogg, Michael Pye, Kate Thomas, Simon Wass and Susan Yates.
