KIRKBYMOORSIDE are back on top of the first division after they beat title rivals Wards 2-0.
Following the big clash, the Moorsiders leapfrogged over Wards and also West Pier and Eastfield. The goals were scored in the last ten minutes after Wards had been reduced to ten men when former Pickering Town striker Dougie McGregor, on as a substitute, was sent off. Lee Alexander scored a fine header, following a Martin Pugh cross, and Richard Bayes notched the other. Man of the match winners were Graham Jemison for Kirkby and Jez Pratt for Wards.
The Moorsiders have another big match when they represent the North Riding FA in the Northern Counties FA Cup against North Bank (Carlisle) at Gretna Green on December 8. The coach leaves Kirkbymoorside at 8am. Anyone interested in going should contact secretary Michael Hodgson on (01751) 431752.
Ryedale Sports Club went second with a fortunate 2-1 win at West Pier. Paul Lakin scored the only goal of the first half to give Ryedale the lead. Carl Young equalised after 65 minutes and then Darren Mancrief hit the post for West Pier. Ryedale's keeper, Rob Campbell, produced a couple of brilliant saves. A late header from Jason Hodgson clinched it five minutes from time.
A brace of Paul Allick goals helped Filey Town move into third after a 2-1 home win against lowly Sleights. Dave Welburn scored for Sleights. In a very sporting match, Cayton Corinthians beat Fishburn Park reserves 3-0, with goals from Marc Griffiths, Tom Adams and Alex Belt.
Scalby were trounced 9-0 at home to Hunmanby United. Andy Crawford (4), Steve Pratt (2), John Benson (2) and Neil Grimson all scored. The game was abandoned after 75 minutes due to a bad injury to the Scalby keeper.
Edgehill came from 2-0 down to win 4-2 at Eastfield thanks to goals from Dave Bell, Paul Nock, Paddy Mancrief and Dean Lill. Eastfield had led 2-0 at half time through Matty Sheader and a Paul Wright own goal.
The second division's game of the day was at Rillington. Bottom club West Pier reserves took a first half lead through Dale Mouser before Phil Horton began his one-man show, bagging all six for Rillington in a 6-1 route.
Edgehill reserves are back on top of the second division after beating last week's leaders Cayton Corinthians reserves 4-2, with goals from Gareth Sygroves (2), Martyn Ferrey and Alex Stockill. Dave Kitching scored a brace for Cayton. Snainton suffered a shock home defeat to Filey Town reserves, 4-0. Goals came from Steve Newton (2) and one each for Jamie Lee and Charlie Skinner.
Forge Hotel impressed in beating Hunmanby United reserves 5-1 away from home. Shaun Thomas and Gary Evans both scored two, with the other being an own goal. Hunmanby's Dave Mitchell had given his side an early lead.
Mick Glew scored to give Ayton the lead at Wards reserves, but Ben Moorcroft equalised, with the game ending 1-1. Tennyson rocked FC Aberdeen's promotion ambitions, beating them 5-3 at home thanks to four goals from Keith McCrorie and one from Mark Cappleman. The FC Aberdeen marksmen were Dave Littlefair (2) and Lee Cappleman.
In the third division, Heslerton lost 5-0 at home to leaders McCains, whose goals came from Craig Love (3) and John Arnold (2). Filey Athletic won 6-1 at Sherburn. Matty Andrews scored four and Andy Carr scored a brace for Filey. Burniston beat Northway Rangers 6-2, with goals from Paul Brady (3), and one each for Chris Kendall, Michael Cooper and John McGough.
