In a week when the Beckett League has found a new sponsor, it was ironic that the brother of the sponsor's Managing Director would feature prominently in the match of the week.
Ed Fawcett, brother of Bob (of RJF Homes), scored a hat-trick for Ampleforth in their 4-4 draw with high-flying Kirkdale United after extra time. Fawcett turned from hero to villain though, when he missed a penalty as Kirkdale won 4-2 in the shoot-out.
Kirkdale nipped into a two goal lead with a goal each for Adrian Voicu and Martin Charlton (penalty). Kevin Wright pulled a goal back for Ampleforth before half time with a penalty. The second half saw Ampleforth take a 3-2 lead, thanks to a two goals from Fawcett but two minutes from time Kirkdale equalised through substitute Stephen Dodsworth.
In extra time substitute Ben Durrant restored Kirkdale's lead but with two minutes remaining Fawcett completed his first ever hat-trick for the club to force a shoot-out. Kirkdale had the stronger nerve in the end but it was a brave effort from lowly Ampleforth.
Second division leaders Amotherby and Swinton were beaten 5-4 at home by Heslerton reserves in a thriller. Amotherby took an early two goal lead through Matty Biggins and Chris Rio but Heslerton pulled back before half time through Jay Smith.
In the second half, Andrew Seller equalised for Heslerton, who then took the lead through Curtis Drummond. Phil Thistleton's 20-yard shot levelled the scores at 3-3 and with five minutes left Amotherby regained the lead through Biggins. Heslerton were not finished and equalised in the last minute thanks to an own goal. In extra time, Drummond won the game for Heslerton in the first period.

Old Malton thirds were thrashed 5-1 at home to Aislaby United. Paul Milner scored for Old Malton. The Aislaby goals were scored by Colin Frank (2), Will Emms (2), and Mark Harland. Black Swan, Pickering won 2-0 at Duncombe Park. Mark Ainsworth volleyed Swan ahead two minutes before half time, and two minutes from time Matt Cass beat the offside trap to score.

Ryedale Sports Club reserves were emphatically defeated at home by Kirkbymoorside reserves, who finished 7-1 winners, thanks to two goals each for Andrew Wilkinson and Andrew Ferguson, one each for Phil Butler and Nick Hodgson, plus an own goal. Jason Wood scored for Ryedale.
Union Rovers beat Bagby and Balk 4-1, scoring twice in each half - Jamie Wilkinson and Danny Boyes in the first half before Wilkinson completed his hat-trick with two more in the second. Man of the match for Union Rovers was shared between Danny Boyes, Brian Shepherd and Paul Holder.
In the only Beckett League game, second division Thornton-le-Dale boosted their promotion ambitions by inflicting Coxwold's first defeat of the season, winning 4-1. Dale took the lead after 20 minutes when Richard Swiers' shot was followed in by Johnathan Scoble. Five minutes before half time, a Mark Shepherd corner was headed home by Tony Wootton for Dale's second. Eddie Myers pulled a goal back for Coxwold but Dale scored further goals by Mike Lealman and Tony Wootton.
