PUPILS from Thornton-le-Dale School were treated to an alternative Nativity play performed by a band of York thespians.

An Angel On The Loose - which tells a Christmas story with a difference - was performed by the Riding Lights Theatre Company. "It was very funny, but it had a serious message - the children loved it," said teacher Sue Slack.

"There was lots of singing and harmonies and some of the characters were funny too - King Herod was portrayed as a panto dame and his wife was a dragon."
