THE father of a woman who scooped a £2.2m national lottery jackpot says the win will not change his daughter.
Fitness instructor Nicola Otterburn was watching the lottery draw on TV at work in Leeds when she realised she had picked the winning numbers.
But her dad, Helmsley cattle dealer John Otterburn, said his daughter is not planning on making any dramatic changes to her life.
"It is a pleasant surprise - you just don't expect it to be someone you know," he said.
"I was one of the first people she phoned once she had seen all her numbers. At first, I told her to calm down.
"My first thought was that maybe she'd been mistaken and I told her to go and check again. But sure enough the numbers were right."
Nicola, 30, is a former pupil of Ryedale School, in Nawton, but moved to Leeds after graduating from Scarborough Technical College.
"She's been there ever since but she does come home quite often," said Mr Otterburn.
"In fact she's coming home for Christmas so it'll be a nice change having a millionaire in the house."
Despite such a massive win, Nicola has no plans to make any life-changing decisions. "She is still planning to go back to work and as far as I know she hasn't bought anything outrageous yet," added Mr Otterburn.
"She was thinking of buying a Range Rover but I don't think she's done that yet. She's also planning to take her eight-year-old niece Laura to Lapland for Christmas."
