PAUL Humphreys, 15, from Ryedale Indoor Bowling Club, is one step away from a place in the England Indoor Bowling Association's Under 25 singles finals, after winning against Andrew Mooring, of York Indoor Bowling Club, last Sunday.
Paul, up against England trialist Andrew, found himself 5-2 down after four ends, after some superb play by the York bowler on his own green. However, Paul's fortunes turned as he took the next 15 shots without reply, moving into a 17-5 lead. Andrew rallied to win the next end with a single shot. This was to be Andrew's last scoring end, as Paul drove on to take the next three ends and win the match, with a final score of 21-6.
Paul goes through to the area final on December 23, which if he wins will take him to Nottingham in February for the national championships.
