A Ryedale woman is trying to raise £1,200 to fund a six-week trip to aid conservation work in the rain forests of Equador.
Sue Taylor, 36, who is taking a two-year tourism course at Yorkshire Coast College, Scarborough, is making the ambitious journey for her six weeks of work experience.
"Most students decide to work in local hotels and restaurants but I felt I wanted to be a bit more adventurous," said Sue who lives at Weaverthorpe.
A part-time instructor at The Workhouse fitness centre in Malton, she said her aim is to obtain a Higher National Diploma in tourism management and travel.
"It will be a great opportunity to learn a different language in Equador. I like to be outdoors and getting my hands dirty," said Sue, who lived in Australia for several years and worked in factories before deciding on a change of career and returning to college.
She is now hoping to raise money by organising aerobic sessions at The Workhouse. Anyone wanting to take part is askled to contact her on (01944) 738501.
