RJF Homes Beckett League
KIRKBYMOORSIDE reserves climbed into second position with a 4-0 home win against Slingsby with two goals scored in each half.
Phil Butler and Andrew Ferguson scored in the first period, and Nicky Hodgson and Dan Broadbent grabbed the crucial goals in the second half. Man of the match winners were Dan Broadbent (Kirkby) and Richard Chilton (Slingsby).
Leaders Rosedale may have been sweating at half-time in their match against bottom club Ampleforth, with the score at 0-0. But Rosedale rallied in the second half as they ran in seven goals - Chris James and Ken Weatherall scored two each, with Adam Burkinshaw, John Tindal and Matthew Tyreman also netting. It was a good attacking performance from Rosedale in the second half but the clean sheet kept by player/manager David Seller, deputising in goal, should also be remembered.
In the second division, Amotherby and Swinton opened up an eight-point gap at the top as they beat vastly-improved Heslerton 4-3 away. Curtis Drummond gave Heslerton the lead before Nick Robinson equalised. Heslerton took a 3-1 lead, thanks to Ashley Cook and a second from Drummond, but Amotherby stormed back as Nick Robinson gained his hat-trick and Matty Biggins sored the goal of the game. Simon Wall was Amotherby's man of the match against his former club.
Bagby and Balk went goal-crazy at Old Red House, winning 17-1, with Paul Fountain grabbing an amazing seven goals. Robert Walker (4), Anthony Hewson, Will Goldburn, Shaun Duckworth, Graham Merritt, Andrew Burton and David Joyce also scored. Dan Varley scored for Old Red House. Man of the match winners were Ben Gillbank (Old Red House) and Robert Walker (Bagby and Balk).
The shock result of the day was third placed Duncombe Park's 4-1 home defeat to lowly Ryedale Sports Club reserves. Mike Phillips opened the scoring with a header but Colin Gascoigne scored a fine equaliser for Park.
Ryedale regained the lead thanks to a Stuart Goodfellow 30-yard lob. In the second half, further goals came from man of the match Stuart Goodfellow and Adam Kendrew.
