STAFF at a Norton factory swapped the production line for the classroom to pass a whole host of exams.
The employees at Malton Bacon Factory studied for NVQs in a variety of subjects as part of the firm's ongoing approach to continuing education.
Personnel officer Sarah Lloyd said more than 160 staff were awarded the certificates by the company, which is bidding to become a centre of excellence for staff training.
One of the star pupils was Ruth Campion, who is a training officer for the slaughterline area.
Miss Campion was presented with a special award of £100 and a silver engraved plate for her achievements in 2001.
Mrs Lloyd said: "We have 2,500 people at the factory and we are working our way through so every one of our employees is able to work towards further qualifications."
