A BABY who proved the perfect surprise Christmas Day present for her Ryedale family was today enjoying her first full day at home.
Georgina Emily Prest was born at about 7pm on Christmas Day and for parents Stuart and Tracey, the timing could not have been better.
"We watched our three boys open all their presents in the morning, which was lovely," Tracey said from her home in Fryton, near Helmsley.
"We then sat down to eat our Christmas dinner and then I went into labour."
Tracey was taken to Malton Hospital and hours later Georgina was born, weighing in at a healthy 7lb 11oz.
"She was due on the 19th so when she still hadn't arrived on Christmas morning there was a chance something would happen during the course of the day," said Stuart, a farmer.
"We'd had such a good day anyway what with it being Christmas, but this was the perfect end to it."
The couple's three boys, William, ten, Joshua, seven, and four-year-old Charlie, were a bit anxious about their mum as she left home to travel to the hospital.
"They had been excited all day anyway because they had just opened all their presents but they weren't expecting this to happen," Tracey added.
"They had all said they wanted a little baby brother, but when they were told it was a girl they were over the moon.
"The timing was pretty good because it could have happened when the boys were opening their presents."
Christmas night at Malton Hospital was special - particularly because Georgina was the only baby born that day.
"The nurses and hospital staff were great - I think because she was the only one that day she got all the attention," said Tracey.
