A NORTON couple has won the Waterloo Cup at a prestigious hare coursing event at Altcar near Liverpool.
John and Jackie Teal's blue brindle bitch, Petite Glory, came first in the national competition, which attracts competitors from all over England and Ireland.
Petite Glory earned the most number of points from six races over three days.
Mr and Mrs Teal are members of the Old Yorkshire Coursing Club - and Petite Glory's success was the first of a double.
The couple also trained a dog owned by Sir Philip Naylor-Leyland, of the Fitzwilliam Estate. He picked up the purse prize (a competition for first round losers) after his brindle bitch, Crafty Xena, finished first.
