SOME 150 children from eight schools defied heavy going ground conditions to take part in a big cross country run at Woodleigh School, Langton, near Malton.
Head teacher Mike England said: "They did extremely well, especially in view of the conditions following the recent heavy rain. But all the children completed the courses - it was a great credit to them."
The event was supported by around 200 parents. He added: "It was a great success."
Schools taking part were Woodleigh, Howsham Hall, Terrington Hall, Lisvane, Queen Ethelburga's, Belmont Grosvenor, Cundall Manor and York Minster.
