HAVING already picked up the Atlas Ward Cup and the Home Guard Sunday Cup, Snainton have added two more cups to their trophy cabinet.

Last week, the second team beat Brompton seconds by ten runs to win the Welford Cup. Batting first, Snainton lost two early wickets but a 70-run partnership by Malcolm Maw (31) and Kevin Wilson (35) helped them to a 113 for 8 total. Ashley Mudd took 4 for 40 and James Allison 3 for 17, but Brompton gave away 29 extras which proved decisive.

In reply, Brompton made a good start through Ashley Mudd (18) and Richard Pateman (57 not out) but then fell behind the run rate. They scored 16 runs off the last over from Kev Wilson but finished ten runs short on 103 for 5.

Trophy number four came in the Andy Hire Cricket Cup, when Snainton B beat Forge Valley B by 14 runs. Snainton batted first and lost captain Malcolm Maw early but Lee Cooper (27) and Will Tyson (21) helped the score along. Daniel Pettit (4 for 27) and Gary Gibson (3 for 17) pegged Snainton back. Liam Cooper, Lee's son, hit a fine 15 not out towards the end, helping his side to 100 all out.

In reply, Colin Arnott made 21 for Forge Valley as Ian Spence took 2 for 24 and Jamie Barrett 1 for 11. As many as five batsmen were run out, as Valley could only muster 86 for 9.

Snainton A hope to make it an unprecedented five out of five final victories this evening (Thursday), when they take on Ebberston B in the McCain Cricket Cup at the McCain Sports Ground (6pm).
