RJF Homes Beckett League - SECOND Division side Heslerton reserves made history last Saturday by reaching the semi-finals of the East Riding County FA Qualifying Country Cup for the first time, thanks to a golden goal from Curtis Drummond in extra-time.

Despite going a goal behind at home to York League side Hemingbrough reserves after eight minutes, Heslerton hit back and nearly equalised through Danny Cass just before half-time but the visitors' keeper saved superbly. In the second half, Heslerton pressed forward more, with Matty Cass and Ashley Cooke forcing good saves from the keeper. With 20 minutes remaining, the Beckett League side equalised thanks to a Curtis Drummond 20-yard direct free-kick to take the game into extra-time. With just one minute remaining in the first period, Drummond played a one-two with Danny Cass before chipping the keeper to clinch the match under the golden goal rule. Man of the match for Heslerton was Matty Cass, with Wayne Pilmoor also impressing.

Pickering Royal Oak, also in the second division, won at first division neighbours Aislaby United in the second round of the Ryedale Hospital Cup - despite playing most of the second half with ten men. They went 2-0 up through Terry Davison and Daman Cox before Aislaby hit back through Martin Carter from the spot. Michael Connell restored their two-goal advantage before Kenny Temple made it 3-2 at the interval. Early in the second half, Adrian Holtby's second bad challenge saw Oak reduced to ten men. But Adam Hornby put Oak further ahead and, though Temple pulled one back to get his second, Hornby added a fifth for Oak. Terry Davison was man of the match for Oak, while Martin Cook took the Aislaby award.

There was also a shock in the third round of the Hospital Cup when Gillamoor beat high-flying Ampleforth on penalties. Home side Gillamoor went ahead with a 30-yard free-kick from Mark Elven before Ampleforth equalised with a Dave Wallinger penalty. In extra-time, James Blacklock restored Gillamoor's lead but Dave Wallinger, again from the spot, scored to force a penalty shoot-out. Danny Drake, Gary Stamper and Craig Ibbotson all scored for Gillamoor but only Wallinger, who gained a hat-trick of penalties, was on target for Ampleforth. Mark Milestone, the Gillamoor keeper and his side's man of the match saved two penalties. Andy Breckons was Ampleforth's man of the match against his former team.

In the first division, Kirkbymoorside reserves beat Old Malton thirds 5-2 in their first home league game of the season. Before the game, a minute's silence was observed for former player, secretary and president Harry Bradley, who passed away recently, aged 94. Harry was President until he retired at the age of 90. Park took the lead after 48 minutes, when Andy Souter set up Liam Ogunshakin. Steve Garbutt added a second before Andrew Souter completed the scoring with a left foot chip from 16 yards after 75 minutes.
