Old Malton 1, Leeds thirds 1 - IN a thoroughly enjoyable match, Old Malton were more direct and shot from distance at any opportunity. Andy Rudd, Andy Harvey and Paul Duffield all had efforts on goal.
Leeds, however, played two up front and relied on midfield to join the play and counter attack. Old Malton were indebted to stand-in keeper Tony Landray to pull off several magnificent saves. Injured spectator Chris Blogg, take note! Charlie Pugh opened the scoring at the second attempt for Old Malton from a penalty corner.
Leeds replied before half-time with a well-taken equaliser, Old Malton letting Leeds carry the ball from deep.
The second half was won on points by Leeds. If it were not for several goalline clearances from Chris Thackray, Tony Linsley and Charlie Pugh, the visitors would have clinched victory. Paul Whatling gave his usual tidy performance after he replaced Mike Dunkley at right back.
Old Malton travel to Abbeydale on Saturday to play Sheffield Hallam. Players to meet at 10am at the Wentworth Arms.
