DONALD Curry, architect of the Government's "Strategy for Sustainable Farming and Food", will be speaking at the annual members night of Driffield Agricultural Society.
The society says that although the event is primarily for its members, the talk is open to all. Anyone interested should ring (01377) 257494 to order tickets.
The chairman of the society, David Stubbings, said: "The restructuring of farming is a taopic of such importance to our rural area that were were determined to get a speaker of the highest quality. Sir Donald Curry is right from the top of the policy-making ladder and we are delighted that he is able to come to talk to our audience."
The leader of the society's education committee, George Hamilton, added: "These are difficult, yet exciting, times for people who live and work in the countryside. We have to learn to adapt and make the new direction a success for farming and rural business."
The event will be held on March 19, commencing at 7.30pm, at the Bell Hotel, Driffield.
