MALTON Bacon Factory midfielder Nicky Cass was the unfortunate victim of a freak accident last Saturday during his side's 1-0 cup victory over local rivals Old Malton.
He broke his elbow after falling awkwardly after an innocent challenge from Paul Boyes with just six minutes of the game gone. Cass was taken to Malton Hospital for an X-ray and then moved to Scarborough Hospital, where he was operated on before being allowed home on Monday.
Nicky, who is likely to be out until the end of the season, said: "There was nothing malicious in the tackle, I just ended up going over the top of Paul. I knew I'd broken something straight away." Darryl Craggs put Factory into the next round of the York FA Senior Cup with a goal 14 minutes from time.
