TWO pupils from St Joseph's Roman Catholic School, in Pickering, have made it through to the next stage of a primary school national maths competition.
Joseph Howard and Callum Watson, both aged ten, gained high marks in the Primary Maths Challenge, organised by the Mathematical Association of Great Britain, to qualify for the next test in February. Four other pupils from the school - Oliver Grayson, Jennifer Temple, Richard Farrer and Rebecca Bointon - also took part in the challenge. Though they failed to progress to the next stage, maths teacher Andrew Scott said all six had done very well.
He said: "I'm extremely impressed that the children have achieved such a high level of performance."
All six pupils received certificates.
