RJF Homes Beckett League. On a day when Jonny Wilkinson became a national hero, it was fitting that another Wilkinson took centre stage in the biggest win in the first division.

Rosedale thrashed Thornton-le-Dale 7-2 at home, as man of the match Richard Wilkinson scored four goals in his first start of the season.

The home side were 2-0 up inside ten minutes through John Tindal and Wilkinson. In the second half, Wilkinson bagged three more, with Martin Myers and Ken Weatherall adding further goals, as Rosedale moved into second place. Will Dunnett and Dale man of the match Dwain Young were on target for the visitors in the second half.

Kirkdale United made it six straight wins with a 4-1 home triumph against Black Swan, Pickering after the visitors had taken a first-half lead through former Kirkdale favourite Adrian Voicu after 18 minutes. Five minutes before half-time, Kirkdale equalised through Chris Simpson. Mark Langdale put them ahead in the second half before Phil Charlton, with the goal of the game, and Graham Jemison sealing the points for Kirkdale. Their man of the match was Phil Marwood. Dave Bateman won the Swan award.

Pickering Royal Oak put in their best performance of the season to gain their second league win of the season, beating Sinnington 3-1, who have lost all four games this month.

Daman Cox opened the scoring for Oak, who doubled their tally after 20 minutes when a great ball from Matthew Smith found Adam Hornby, who blasted home. Cox added a third for Oak before the Sinners pulled a goal back before half-time through Joe Turnbull.

In the second half, Oak's Darren Pickering made a great goal-line clearance. Keeper Mark Strangeway made two outstanding saves on his way to picking up Oak's man-of-the-match award. Stuart Wilkinson impressed for Sinnington.

Aislaby United beat Old Malton 3rds 2-0, thanks to a first-half brace from man of the match Simon King. The first came after good work by Martin Carter; Dave Drabble combined with Mark Harland and Kenny Temple for the second. This was Old Malton's best team effort this season, with Glyn Brown and George Cooper impressing in particular.

Kirkbymoorside reserves won 3-1 at Duncombe Park. Park's Will Smith equalised early in the second half after Kirkby had gone ahead in the first period. But two further goals clinched the points for the Moorsiders.

Heslerton reserves were easily the second division's top scorers, walloping Ampleforth 11-0 with goals from Danny Cass (5), second-half sub Sam Needham (3), Dave Hornby (2), and Jerry Field. Curtis Drummond was Heslerton's man of the match.

Second-placed Union Rovers dropped two points at home to a vastly-improved Ryedale SC reserves in a 2-2 draw.

Peter Tiffeny put Rovers ahead early in the second half with a right-foot shot. After 70 minutes, Ryedale equalised when Richard Bradley ran the length of the pitch and squared to Sean Dixon, who sent the keeper the wrong way. Five minutes later, Ryedale stunned their hosts by taking the lead, thanks to a bullet header from Richard Bradley.

Richard Abbey scored a fine equaliser for Rovers with just five minutes left. In the last minute, Ryedale's Ian Horner was worse for wear after a clash of heads left him needing five stitches in a wound above his eye. Man of the match winners were Chris Cook (Rovers) and Carl Roffe (Ryedale).

Coxwold lost their second league game of the season, 3-1 at home to Carlton United, who fully deserved their victory.

Daniel Jaques put Coxwold in front but two goals in quick succession from Darren Beattie put United ahead at the break. A Steve Kilduff penalty secured United's first league win of the season. Man of the match winners were James Banks (Coxwold) and Dan Varley (Carlton).

Gillamoor suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Bagby and Balk. Gillamoor's Gary Stamper went close twice but poor finishing cost them dear. Stephen Robertshaw was Gillamoor's man of the match.

Three Beckett League players began suspensions by the North Riding County FA on Monday. These are Jason Sargent (Coxwold), for 21 days, and David Wallinger (Ampleforth) and Stephen Walker (Ryedale SC), both for 35 days.
