Rillington

On November 26, a successful business meeting was held to plan the club's programme for the forthcoming months.

On December 3, members made their way to York to try out their skills on the new ice rink. A good night was had by all.

On Sunday, December 7, several of Rillington's members journeyed to Harrogate to take part in the country quiz and public speaking competitions. Members were Rachel Prest, Stuart Maw, Sarah Waterworth, Laura Witty, Harriet Witty, Rose Megginson, John Douglas, William Douglas and Sarah Naylor. Well done to all those who took part.

Ryedale

On Sunday, December 7, a team of Ryedale young farmers travelled to Harrogate for the annual county public speaking competition. Ryedale's district chairman Ian 'Nuffy' Teasdale and secretary Sarah Waterworth came second in the senior debating competition. This means that the pair will be going forward to the final which is to take place at the national competitions day next year. Congratulations to you both.

In the first heat, the team came joint third, but unfortunately did not make it into the finals. It's been a busy weekend for Ryedale Young Farmers, starting with a dinner dance at Helmsley on Saturday, December 6, public speaking and Kirkbymoorside's ploughing match during Sunday, followed in the evening by the district pool and darts competitions. Who said Sunday was the day of rest?
