RJF Homes Beckett League. ROSEDALE became the first division's new leaders after winning 3-1 at Thornton-le-Dale. They are level on points with Sinnington, but go top due to a better goal difference.

Rosedale took the lead after 18 minutes when John Tindal scored with a shot through a crowded penalty area, forcing the ball into the goal. In an even first half, Thornton-le-Dale equalised a minute before half-time. Wilf Dunnett's shot received a slight deflection and fell to Dwaine Young, who duly scored a fine equaliser.

Rosedale regained the lead after 55 minutes when golden oldie Richard Wilkinson scored a fine goal after good work by Matthew Tyreman. They went further ahead after 59 minutes when Adam Burkinshaw scored with an unstoppable 18-yard shot.

In the last five minutes, Rosedale hit three excellent chances over the crossbar - Les Bargh, Kenny Weatherall and Matthew Tyreman being the guilty culprits. Man of the match winners were Mark Aconley (Thornton-le-Dale) and Stuart Dowson (Rosedale).

Kirkbymoorside reserves and Old Malton thirds shared the points in a 1-1 draw. The Moorsiders took the lead when Darren Rivis scored a fine goal on the hour mark. Ten minutes later, Old Malton scored a deserved equaliser when Stuart Clarkson scored. Man of the match winners were Darren Rivis (Kirkbymoorside reserves) and Glyn Brown (Old Malton).

Aislaby United and Sinnington also shared the points in a 1-1 draw, both goals coming in the first half.

The Sinners started the game well after a few harsh words from skipper Lee Mitchell following a run of poor results. They went in front after 25 minutes through Jonathan Campbell.

Ten minutes later, Dave Drabble played Kenny Temple in down the right. He beat his man, cut inside and, though his shot hit the crossbar, the well-placed James Harland followed up to score a deserved equaliser at the second attempt - his first effort being saved by Sinners' keeper Dave Waind.

Overall, a draw was a fair result. Man of the match winners were Simon King (Aislaby United) and Paul Clapham (Sinnington). Andrew Hall, playing at left back instead of his usual attacking position, and David Brown also impressed for the Sinners.

The only second division game saw Slingsby beat Carlton United 4-2. Richard Chilton gave Slingsby a 15th-minute lead, but Richard Moss quickly equalised for Carlton, who then took the lead when Graham Barker scored with a superb header.

On the stroke of half-time, Slingsby equalised through Dave Allan. Slingsby went on to win the three points and leapfrog over Coxwold with second-half goals by Andy Mullen and man of the match Fraser Land. Craig Fairweather was man of the match for Carlton.

The quarter-final draw for the Gordon Harrison Memorial Trophy is: Gillamoor v Duncombe Park or Aislaby United, Kirkbymoorside reserves or Ryedale SC reserves v Pickering Royal Oak, Rosedale v Carlton United, Kirkdale United v Union Rovers.
