MUSIC, comedy, drama and dance featured in the annual Christmas show in Malton School hall.
Junior and senior choirs performed, including a rather unusual interpretation of The Twelve Days of Christmas. The orchestra played Rudolf and the Hallelujah Chorus, and there were soloists - Sally Fothergill (I Wish It Could Be Christmas), Sheila Connolly (Ding Dong Merrily and Where is it Written) and Ed Sturmheit (Sweet Little Jesus).
Comedy sketches were performed by Mark Wylie and Dan Bulmer (a Two Ronnies routine), Hardware Shop (Four Candles), while three dubious-looking scientists discussed the mathematical improbability of Father Christmas's annual task, business students discussed downsizing the gifts in the Twelve Days of Christmas, and three ageing men discussed the merits of excess versus healthy living.
A dance routine to the tune of Rocking Around The Christmas Tree was performed by five year ten girls.
The finale was a miniature pantomime performed by the sixth form.
The whole show was compered by Mark Wyle, David Spencer and Phillippa Chapman, with introductions mixed with corny Christmas jokes.
Also in the run-up to Christmas, there was the annual senior citizens party, attended by 120 older people. They had been invited to hear the junior choir, watch the panto, play bingo and other games and eat, drink and be merry.
