Leeper Hare York and District League Premier Division Malton Bacon Factory 0, Old Malton 1 A crowd of well over 100 people turned out for this season's second local derby.

MBF won the first game at the Gannock by a 3-0 margin, so Old Malton were eager to avenge their defeat even though they were missing some top players. Factory fielded a strong side but were missing striker Nigel Allen which proved a massive loss.

Old Malton caused more problems in the first 20 minutes with three corners. Despite home advantage, MBF were playing much of the game in their own half, although Lee Rushworth in goal was hardly tested.

In the 18th minute, Nicky Cass was substituted due to injury and Phil Marwood took his place on the left.

David Bradshaw looked the most potent striker and showed his skill with an excellent goal in the 34th minute. He collected the ball 30 yards out, turned Jamie Hopwood and shot home, giving Rushworth no chance.

Simon Collins and Darryl Craggs had chances for MBF, but these were saved by McDermidd or went wide.

The first half belonged to Old Malton, but the second half was a Factory takeover. Nicky Drew put Alex Strickland through with only McDermidd to beat but the keeper blocked the shot.

Drew was giving the OM defence the most problems and was brought down just outside the area. Jamie Barker took the free-kick and blasted the shot out of the keeper's reach but just wide. Factory's Craggs and Collins had shots but Old Malton's Darren Walker had the best chance of the half. He lingered just a second too long before shooting and Wayne Hazel challenged him, causing him to hit the ball over from five yards.

Sub Kevin Oxendale had MBF's best chance minutes from time when he headed just over the bar.

Factory continued to press until the final whistle but the visitors held on and deservedly won thanks to a moment of magic from Bradshaw.

Defending midfielder Barker was the man of the match for MBF. Next week, MBF entertain league leaders Dringhouses.
