JOCKEYS had a hair-razing experience when they went head to head for charity.
Fifteen racing celebrities took part in a sponsored head-shave at Doncaster Racecourse, in aid of the Malton Fire Disaster Appeal Fund.
The fund was set up after the tragic blaze at Buckrose Court, in Norton, in September, in which young jockeys Jamie Kyne and Jan Wilson died.
Funds raised will go towards their families, with donations so far topping £60,000.
Jockeys Paul Hanagan and Tom Eaves organised the head-shave to add to the funds, with the Gazette & Herald’s racing tipster Tom O’Ryan among those taking part.
Speaking ahead of the event, Paul said: “Everybody in racing circles was absolutely gutted about what happened to Jamie and Jan. Tom and I had a chat about the best way of raising funds for the appeal and agreed we’d be up for a head shave. As soon as it was mentioned to some of the other lads, they wanted to do it as well.”
