A Malton venue has been recognised in a wedding industry awards.
Birdsall House was announced as Highly Commended for Best Venue (Historic) in the Yorkshire and the North East Wedding Industry Awards 2025.
The results were based on average voter scores and feedback from customers from the past 12 months, as well as the opinion of more than 150 expert judges.
Birdsall House was built in 1540 by the Sotheby family.
In 1719, Thomas Willoughby, the younger son of Lord Middleton, was travelling over the Yorkshire Wolds from Nottingham when he lost his way in a snowstorm.
Following a light in the distance, he arrived at Birdsall House where the Sotheby family gave him refuge for the night.
Willoughby fell in love with the Sothebys' only daughter and heiress, Elizabeth, and they married soon after.
Their descendants, James and Cara Willoughby, and their three children, opened the home for events in 2018.
A spokesperson for Birdsall House said: "To be highly commended as a result of feedback from couples who have actually hosted their special day here is really special, especially during the year we launched our new private party venue, The Old Kitchens.
"We only host a maximum of ten dedicated weddings per year across our house, grounds, and now within the party space, so to be recognised among some huge wedding brands is wonderful."
