Speeds of more than 150mph have been clocked by police as officers reveal the fastest offences in North Yorkshire.

In response to a Freedom of Information request (FOI), North Yorkshire Police revealed the highest speed offences registered in the county for both 2023 and 2024.

In the FOI request, the force was asked to share the highest speed recorded, the speed limit on the road which it was recorded on, the time of day it was recorded, and the road it happened on.

The request also asked for the highest speeding offence on a 30mph road in North Yorkshire.

In response to the highest speed offence recorded, the force said that 2023's highest speed was 151mph, recorded on the A19 at 7.25pm.

For 2024, the highest speed was 129mph, recorded on the A64 at 4.22pm.

Both speeds were recorded in 70mph speed limits.

North Yorkshire Police added that they caught drivers travelling at 77mph in 30mph zones in both 2023 and 2024.
