As of Friday, November 15, three artworks are illuminating St Mary's Church in Scarborough as part of the Scarborough Lights Festival.

The selection of displays are gathered under the title of 'Reflections.'

Animated Objects' artwork, entitled The Tree of Dedications, Reflections and Memories, is a 3.5-metre-high handmade tree lantern made of willow and white tissue, designed to diffuse light from tiny lights hanging from its branches.

Adrian Riley's artwork, Light in Darkness, is situated in the central nave of the church and takes inspiration from New Testament verse John 1:5: "Light shines in the darkness and the darkness will not comprehend the light."

Each word of the artwork lights up in a random order, creating new phrases from the original text.

Mr Riley said: "I hope that visitors will take a seat in a pew and just sit back watching the illuminated words appear and disappear in the darkness."

Astro Dog's artwork, Celestial Adventures, is an immersive 360-degree planetarium dome.

Following the opening weekend, Reflections will go on to run from Friday, November 22 to Sunday 24 November, and then from Friday, November 29 to Sunday, December 1 (starting at 5pm on each of those days).
