A top York attraction has launched an immersive Christmas experience.
York Castle Museum is now taking visitors back to the 19th century in its celebrated Victorian street, Kirkgate.
Beginning this weekend (November 16), the museum is inviting visitors to experience the "timeless charm" of a Victorian Christmas, where snow-dusted cobblestones and festively decorated shopfronts will take people back to the past.
The museum promises period rooms filled with holiday decorations. Highlights include sleigh photo opportunities, decoration-making workshops for children, and festive storytelling sessions by Storycraft Theatre.
Adults can also join in the creativity with wreath-making and other craft workshops, available for a small charge.
Victorian Carol singers will grace Kirkgate with traditional carols every Monday.
Special appearances will be made by the lively musical duo, The Ran Tanners, on December 8 and 20.
One highlight this season is the return of the Green Father Christmas, who will make appearances on weekends and selected weekdays, including Christmas Eve.
The museum said: "Traditionally, a Green Father Christmas would talk of feasts, games, dancing and songs, bringing joy to everyone."
York Castle Museum is also offering 'quiet afternoons' on November 19 and December 10. Meanwhile, families can mark their calendars for festive activities like the children’s decoration workshop on December 21 and storytelling sessions throughout December.
'An evening with Ebenezer Scrooge' will be coming to those over the age of 16 on December 17 and 18, at an extra cost.
The museum is asking potential visitors to visit its website for a full schedule and details on booking workshops and special events.
