The new president of Malton & Norton Rotary has shared his plans for the club - with member recruitment a top priority.
Adam Watson, who moved to Malton from Kent in 2019, became head of the club earlier this year.
He said: "My hobbies are rugby, wine, and pub quizzes.
"Rotary allows me to contribute our time and effort into improving lives.
"I particularly enjoy the camaraderie of fellow members, and although only a member for a short time, I'm now incredibly honoured to be this year's president.
"Rotary is a global organisation that acts locally, nationally, and internationally constantly, and in time of any needs such as hardship, famine, health, and disasters.
"Rotary has particular focuses on the young, elderly, and health, which guides our action both locally and globally.
"Rotary has been prime in eradicating polio globally, and we are nearly there, and in supporting those displaced from the Ukraine conflict here and in Poland.
"I have two main Rotary aims - firstly to attract new members keen to help our actions, and making our group one that people want to be members of.
"Our Rotary purpose is to raise funds to support our objectives through events such as Charity Shop and Golf Days.
"And I want us all to have fun doing so.
"Secondly, I have reached out to the likes of Citizens Advice, Next Steps, the Lions, and the Council, to ensure that we collectively provide the best support to those who are vulnerable and need help in our community.
"In doing so, we plan to be more visible to the public in what we do and hence attract more like-minded members to Rotary.
"Again in May 2025 the culmination of this will be the Involve Event at the Milton Rooms that we organise.
"More on this in the new year!"
