Derwent Practice is to introduce a new telephone system this week.
From Thursday, September 26, the surgery will transition to a new telephone provider.
A spokesperson for the practice said: "We have listened hard to patient and colleague feedback and selected a provider that was awarded Best Communications System at the Building Better Healthcare Awards 2023 and has a proven track record within the healthcare industry (including feedback from our neighbouring Practices).
"We are confident that moving to an Advanced Cloud Based Technology solution, with functions such as call back facility to prevent patients waiting in long queues, will improve the overall patient experience.
"Our options will remain the same on our new telephone to prevent any confusion for patients, Option 1 for Nurse Reception, Option 2 for Prescriptions and Option 3 for GP Appointments and all other enquiries.
"Whilst all staff have undergone training on the new telephone system, please bear with us on Thursday 26th September 2024, as with anything new - teething problems may arise!
"We would however like to reassure patients that this will not disrupt access, as our old phone system will run alongside the new one until everything is confirmed as in full working order.
"Thank you in advance for your patient and understanding, Derwent Practice."
