A CAR crashed into a house in a York suburb, with the driver taken away in an ambulance, according to residents.
The crash happened today (September 20) in Sowerby Road in Holgate, at its junction with Lindsey Avenue.
A white Jaguar I-PACE was reported to have hit the front of the bungalow.
Emergency services were called to the scene.
Residents, who did not wish to be named, said they heard a very loud bang and claimed that the car looked ‘brand new’ and had private licence plates.
One resident claimed she had heard that the tenant of the property was in the kitchen having just made a cup of tea, and had just entered his living room when the crash happened.
They added that they thought he was uninjured.
The resident claimed that the female driver of the Jaguar was taken away in an ambulance with a cut to her ear.
Most of the front of the house has been destroyed and representatives of City of York Council, Northern Powergrid and Ridge Property and Construction Consultants were outside the premises when The Press arrived, along with gas engineers.
Speaking to other media, station manager Chris Johnstone of North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, said crews from York and Acomb attended the scene.
He added there were no serious injuries.
Robert Burnett from City of York Council was at the scene and said that the tenant had been found temporary accommodation.
The Press has contacted North Yorkshire Ambulance Trust and will update the story once we have more information.
