A Scarborough entrepreneur has been awarded £10,000 to support her business's future growth.

Rebecca Norris, who runs Rebecca Norris Designs, received the grant from the entrepreneurship charity Hatch Enterprise, in partnership with NatWest.

Her business was one of ten across the UK to receive a share of the £100,000 grant in celebration of Hatch's tenth anniversary.

Ms Norris's business is a pottery studio offering courses, workshops, and community events.

She said: "I am absolutely over the moon to get this life-changing grant.

"This money will allow me to move my business to the next level.

"I will be able to purchase equipment for my studio, and gain vital training to enhance my own skills.

"Crucially, I will be able to open a physical studio that will enable me to hold more workshops and pottery courses."

The grants aim to help business founders from diverse backgrounds overcome growth barriers typically faced by those in the start-up sector.

Applications were open to graduates of Hatch programmes, with nine of the ten awardees being female founders, three from an ethnic minority background, and five disabled.

NatWest, which provided the funding for the grants, donated £1 million to Hatch last year to accelerate its work.
