A RETIRED photographer on holiday in the UK is asking readers of The Press to play detective and help locate a couple he has a gift for.
Samuel Kolber, 88, a Canadian from Toronto, has a series of special images he would like to present to the man and woman he says consented to him taking images of a young girl with their dog when they were all in Helmsley at around 3.30pm on Thursday, September 12.
Samuel was visiting Erik Brown, a retired journalist and publisher from Teesside, who was showing him and their friend John Craig, a retired accountant from Winnipeg, around some of the most photogenic sites in Ryedale, the North Yorkshire Moors and Dales.
Samuel and Erik met in the republic of Georgia, one of the first spots on Erik's bucket list of places to visit after selling his shares in the central London publishing house.
Samuel said: “It was my first time in Yorkshire, a beautiful part of the world.”
Erik said of the shots taken with Helmsley Castle in the background: “The light was magnificent.
“Sam was a professional and asked – and was granted – permission to take the photographs.
“The series came out really well, and we’d like to give them to the couple.
“All we know about them is they had a girl and a boy with them, who they said had only just started walking, as well as a tiny fluffy dog called Biggie, who is in the shots.
“They were lovely people and Sam would like to give them the images, because they’re rather special.”
Erik, Samuel and John are continuing their excursion this week by taking in The Cotswolds.
