ONE of North Yorkshire's best-loved local theatre companies is hitting the road with a comedy.

In the company’s 26th year of touring, Green Hammerton-based company Badapple Theatre, is putting the finishing touches to an updated version of The Regalettes.

The show will tour for seven weeks from Thursday (September 26) to Sunday, November 17 with a brand new cast, new ‘cinema’ visuals and new twists, kicking off in Yorkshire before sweeping south. It comes to All Saints Hall in Poppleton for opening night on September 26 at 7.30pm.

Starring York actors Nell Baker and Pip Cook, the comedy is set in the 1930s, the cinema decade spanning Hitchcock noir and classic Technicolor showstoppers.

Celebrity and rural life clash head on when a new movie is set to première at the tiny Regal cinema in the fictional Yorkshire village of Bottledale.

Comedy and intrigue ensues as the intrepid heroines Hilda and Annie suddenly find themselves at the heart of a very silly mystery. Prepare for a right ‘Regal’ night out, full of laughs, film sequences, music, songs and clowning.

Writer and director Kate Bramley said: “Bringing in a new cast has given the whole show a new lease of life.

"I have re-written some of the show and alongside our new Assistant Director Connie Peel will be adding some new visual twists and turns to the narrative, as well as our production team augmenting the overall design and style.

"We are always refining and creating and looking to make every tour be the best it can be.”

After Poppleton they will be off to 18 venues nationwide. Yorkshire locations include:
