York is playing host to an event set up in tribute to one of the world’s most prominent anti-apartheid campaigners and Christian leaders.

The Revd Nontombi Tutu, episocopal priest and human rights activist, daughter of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, will lead the inaugural Desmond Tutu Annual Memorial Lecture at York Minster on September 17.

In tribute to Desmond Tutu's legacy of scholarly reflection and contemplation, the Desmond Tutu Centre for Religion and Social Justice at the University of Western Cape and United Society Partners in the Gospel (USPG) have established an annual Desmond Tutu Memorial Lecture on Religion and Social Justice.
