THE new mayor of York and North Yorkshire visited Malton this morning (Thursday)
David Skaith was invited to the town by Malton's Deputy Mayor Cllr Lindsay Burr.
Cllr Burr said she was delighted to welcome the Mayor
She said: "David was elected in May and promised he would visit Malton, and true to his word the meeting took place today.
"During the visit he visited local shops, chatted to business owners and visited the new Malton Town Council community hub.
"We had an extremely positive meeting and discussed traffic in Malton town centre, the A64, flooding issues, investment in Malton and if and how the mayor could help.
"It was a very productive meeting and I look forward to working with the Mayor during his term of office."
