THE LANDLORDS of a village pub are celebrating their 10th anniversary.

Shaun and Claire Marsh took over the Ham & Cheese in Scagglethorpe in 2014.

To celebrate the anniversary the pub is hosting a special ticket-only charity event with proceeds to Andy’s Man Club on Saturday, September 21.

The evening of entertainment will include live music from a popular local band.

Claire said over the past decade the pub had gone from strength to strength.

"We have worked hard to transform the Ham & Cheese from a pretty desolate place to a thriving traditional country inn with eight B&B rooms and holiday cottage, event area, restaurant and vibrant bar area.

"Over the 10 years we have gone from strength to strength, employing at the start three members of staff to 30 now."

"The restaurant serves traditional pub food with amazing daily specials, with food sourced as locally as possible including Derek Fox butchers, Dales & Paleys, as well as Yorkshire brewers for real ale."

Claire said the pub hosted everything from comedy nights, quizzes and charity events to weddings, christenings, corporate events, breakfast meetings and bottomless brunches

"On the second and fourth Thursday of the month we have open mic sessions hosted by the amazingly talented Kirkbymoorside based “Lounge Lizards”.

"We also have teams in the Malton & Norton Pool League, Malton & Norton Ladies Darts League, Mixed Darts Teams in the Dales Darts League and Saturday Cricket league."

For the anniversary evening there will be usual service indoors until 7.30pm with last food orders at 6pm. The outdoor bar and kitchen will be open from 5pm - 9:30pm before moving indoors for the after party which is strictly ticket only.
